- “Love is the vital core of the soul.”
On Surrender
Jiddu Krishnamurti, in his book “The First and Last Freedom”, talks about surrendering to “what is” in Question 18. He explains that there is a vast difference between surrendering to the will of God and accepting what is. Surrendering to the will of God implies that you already know the will of God, and if you know reality, you cannot surrender to it; you cease to exist; there is no surrendering to a higher will. If you are surrendering to a higher will, then that higher will is the projection of yourself, for the real cannot be known through the known.
It comes into being only when the known ceases to be.
On Humility
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is known for his unmatched humility, which was the key to his success. His humbleness was unique and went beyond the qualities of any powerful leader, because he was not an ordinary leader.
Through his humility, he could bring people together and win hearts of even his staunchest enemies. He said: “Indeed, humility increases the dignity of one endowed with it. Be humble, and Allah will exalt you.”
He also said: “Most of those who go to hell are the arrogant”. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would invoke his lord saying: “Oh Allah! Make me live humbly and make me die humbly, and gather me among the humble on the day of resurrection”. His humility with his lord the almighty was manifest in his character.
Prophet Muhammad also said that all kinds of modesty are best and that coarse talk does not come into anything without disgracing it, while modesty does not come into anything without adorning it.
Humility and courtesy are acts of piety.
