Today you’re the guest of God

I recollect a story from Hazrat Nizamuddin’s childhood. They went hungry a lot. His mother didn’t have sufficient means to feed him every day.

Each time young Nizam returned home and there was no food, his mother would inform him by saying ‘today, we are Allah’s guests’.

Hearing this the young man would know there was no fire in the kitchen, no food for the body.

If anything, life guarantees pain.

Each time I have suffered hurt, knowing well I had nothing to do with it and yet it is written in my share of experiences, I’ve bent the frequency to interpret it as ‘today, I’m the guest of God’.

For if He ain’t tired of offering the trials, should He not also be the host of those parties?

I’m going to His parties a lot these days. And, the one thing I have to say, those are the parties where things actually move.

Before we claim to understand things with our tongues and our bodies, they have to be felt inside. Before we use our eyes, something inside must see and become aware.

I can’t say much except that if today you have a choice between the parties you want to be at, choose wisely. ❤️
