"Hey World - Everything else seems overkill"

I am not a massive fan of social media but I do love to write. I own a Moleskin notebook and still enjoy writing the traditional way, by putting pen to paper. But I want to share my thoughts and idea's to a wider audience, not just to a closed book. Medium.com with it's paywall wasn't for me.

Facebook
The original concept of Facebook had me hooked at the beginning, being able to connect to old school friends and family from afar. But in my opinion this was quickly lost and become a platform for self righteousness, fake news and boring content. Their recent anti free speech behaviour has been horrendous too. And how they use your personal data? Lets not get into that!

My Facebook account has been deleted for a while now and I don't miss it one bit.

Twitter
Twitter is full of trolls, hate and arguments - I only keep my account due to the handle @pwob which is my initials. I now use Twitter simply as a way of following some of the more interesting people in the world, plus I find it useful for contacting support departments, @heyhey being one of them. I make an occasional post to see if I can engage some interest to my blog, which rarely works.

Reddit
Reddit is new to me, I never really felt the need to use it until recently, as it's been a useful tool for researching Cryptocurrency. My Reddit journey started out great, people were helpful and respectful. I have even replied to a few posts in the unofficial Hey.com Subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/HeyEmail/.

All was going well until this weekend. I hit a Cryptocurrency Subreddit to share my experience with their Crypto. The response I got was horrid, I am no way a snowflake and I can hold my own corner, but this place was just unhelpful, unkind and disrespectful. The moderators sat back and did zilch. This Subreddit was the official channel for a large Crypto bank who recently announced $2b of Crypto business. But they are either ignoring or are unaware of the crap that is happening in their name.

WordPress
I've had a Wordpress site for years but i'm finding it more of a hindrance that what it's worth. There is hosting costs, updates, plugins and the worry about speed and security. I am not sure if I will renew my hosting account when it comes up for renewal later this year.

Hey World
I have been a big fan of hey.com since their launch. I have a Hey Work account too and like the people behind the company as well. Email has always been a favourite of mine.

The launch of Hey World got my attention instantly, it just made sense. You could send an email to world@hey.com and it would publish to your own Hey World blog. No messing about. No domains to worry about, no plugins etc. Just type and publish.

I'd like to be able to add my Twitter name in the header somewhere, or a way to share to Twitter at the same time. But in some ways the simplicity is what makes it work. I social icon is a must, please.

The fact there is no extra change, no silly restrictions is fantastic. This is 100% a game changer for me.

Email has always been my main communication tool and to be able to share stuff to the world from the same platform I use the most, just perfect!
