Cork

On Friday I traveled to Cork, which is a city on the south west side of Ireland. After eating breakfast in the Buttery, which is the student cafeterias at Trinity, I went off in search of a pen. My current favorite pen is Uniball Signo 207 in a micro point. However, the one I brought with me was having difficulties with the ink. After wandering into different stationary stores along Grafton Street, I finally ended up in a lovely Japanese stationary shop, Muji, where I found a suitable micro-point gel ink pen.

Since I had some time before my train to Cork, I went over and sat in St Stephen’s Green for a while. I then walked up past St Patrick’s Cathedral, which is the other Anglican church in Dublin just a few blocks away from Christ Church Cathedral. Jonathan Swift, who is the author of Gulliver‘s Travels, was Dean of this Cathedral at one point.

The train station was bustling. Apparently Taylor Swift was having a concert in Dublin Friday night, and there were a lot of people traveling.

The train ride itself was uneventful. The train had blue tinted windows. Lots of fields and country sides. Interestingly, most all the fields seem to have fencerows rather than just bare fences.

On Saturday, I walked a couple miles along the River Lee to down to Blackrock Castle. In the afternoon, I went to see the shops in the city center, which were full of people.
