Lauragh

On Wednesday I walked about 14 miles from Eyeries to Lauragh. I met a lovely German couple at the B&B in Eyeries. Since we were going the same direction on the same day, they invited me to join them for the trek. We had a lot of interesting discussions about culture, healthcare, and politics.

The route started with a 4 mile walk over to the village of Ardgroom

Thursday morning I read for a while. My view while reading.

I then walked down the road a bit to visit the Derreen Gardens.

Oliver Cromwell’s physician, Sir William Petty, came into possession of the lands in this area back in 1657. In 1856, one of his descendants decided to build a summer home and garden here at Derreen.

Some photos from the garden.
