The River Tormes just east of Salamanca.
My run took me through the town and out the other side, into farmland, past a huge solar farm, through a small wood, and finally into rolling low hills. I feel much more comfortable running in strange places than I did even a month ago. Faye was going to head out on her bike, but a puncture meant she couldn’t. I think she’s only actually managed one bike ride so far, and with her tyres being such specialist items, I’m not sure she’ll be doing any more!
We set off around 1pm having efficiently packed up (and said goodbye to our friends, who left an hour or so before us) - time for a new site. First though we needed to find a new gas bottle. A few wild goose chases thanks to the hopelessly out of date Campingaz website ensued, but we got one in the end. Then it was Lidl, Decathlon (for some badminton racquets) and to the site, just a few miles east of Salamanca.
The River Tormes is much more impressive here than the Duero was at Tordesillas, and flanks the site - I’m looking forward to kayaking in it, and Faye fancies wild swimming in it - though I’ll believe that when I see it.
We had a good meal in the campsite restaurant this evening, although there were lots of dogs around which meant Faye had to keep an extra strong hold on Skye. Maya has decided she wants to be a lawyer and so has been asking lots of pretty funny 9-year-old type questions about it all evening.
Heatwave continues tomorrow, then hotter still on Saturday…
