Sunrise over the Salamanca countryside.
Faye woke at 4.50am and headed out on a mammoth 37-mile run this morning, getting back midday-ish just before it got really hot. She spent some of her time running around the streets of Salamanca, randomly, as a "jogging tourist", observing the stragglers still out from the night before as the city woke up.
That's enough to make anyone feel lazy, and I certainly did, doing very little today in the heat. It's been fun to have a week fully "off", but I do miss my work, as I always do when on holiday, and I am looking forward to getting back to it next week, albeit on "holiday" hours. I'm thinking 25 hours a week is about right long-term, which could be one of the big lessons of this couple of months. I've felt a bit restless and unsettled today.
The campsite wifi is poor as is our mobile reception, but I managed to cobble together a strong enough signal to listen to the Manchester United v Leeds game, a 5-1 thrashing. Would have been great to watch it but the radio was better than nothing.
So apart from that: A few games of badminton with the kids (well, hitting a shuttle back and forth), a chunk of time listening to music on the impressive 2.1 Bluetooth Minirig system that I'm currently reviewing, and a nice big pot of "camping paella" for supper. That just about sums the rest up.
And then, just before bed, the kids made some friends (typical, we leave tomorrow) and spent half an hour on the zip wire with them on the site perimeter - although it ended with Maya limping home with multiple splinters in her foot, which Faye expertly removed with tweezers and a phone light.
