Sunset over the dehesa today - best I could manage on the iPhone!
A really hot day again today, probably the hottest of all two months for our final day here - great for us, not so good for the livestream, which took all of our effort to make happen. Variously, the iPhone, router and cameras all told us they were shutting down through overheating - then the local cellular mast decided to conk out just before we went live...
However, we conquered adversity - we moved stuff around to be in the shade, we perched the router on a carton of cold soy milk that had been in the fridge to keep it cool, we put the iPhone directly in the fridge for a bit, and we kept testing the stream with lower and lower bandwidth requirements until we found a setting that was stable.
It was all worth it - playing an hour of music to our handful of regulars plus a couple of hundred more, with the amazing view behind us, while the sun dappled us through the trees, was great fun, and once we started it all went really smoothly (unlike last time - no YouTube takedowns this week).

The crowning glory was Maya appearing from the swimming pool, and stepping up to perform the last mix. Funnily enough, the whole family had practised that very mix (a surprise spin of Gary Numan's "Cars" to end the set) while I was rehearsing earlier in the day, so she knew what to do, and the audience loved it. All this and an incredible sunset, storm clouds gathering in the summer heat but the rain never quite reaching us.
So apart from all that, we had a roast chicken and chips, takeaway, from the restaurant for our lunch, followed later by a paella I whipped up after the livestream, the kids continued to enjoy the pool, park and games room... and we wondered how the hell we were going to sleep with it still being 31C at 11pm. And guess what? We slept just fine, with the door open and Faye's amazing USB fan taking the edge off the heat for us.
