Our pitch, right on the edge of the site by small fields and rolling hills.
Hitting the road again and heading north-west after our morning’s work, we made the customary Lidl stop for supplies, then completed the two-hour journey to our next campsite, just outside Tomar. We got there just a short while before it was time for me to do my weekly teaching livestream.
Having conducted the livestream in a particularly sunny, bucolic setting, I pegged down the awning, and we relaxed and explored the small, Dutch-run campsite, Camping Pelinos.
Dylan and Maya have got surprisingly good at washing up duties.
It is quirky and friendly with a small pool, and is built on a steep, terraced hill. We are in the bottom flat section, sharing it with a football and nets (that had Dylan and Maya amused doing shooting practice all evening), a random table tennis table… and a family who were also at our last site, who we shared notes with.
We are camping in pine trees and surrounded by well bedded-in foliage, very different to the more exposed site of the last couple of nights, and we think we’ll find it quite peaceful here.
However we’ll probably only stay a couple of days, as there’s nothing really to walk to and it is too small for the kids to ride their bikes.
Skye exploring the paths around the campsite on a long leash, with Faye.
Sometimes this trip feels like the search for the perfect campsite, but I guess as long as you’re enjoying the journey, who cares?
