It's happening. Potato Codex is going to YouTube.
I've been putting this off for a while. Writing blog posts is one thing — you can edit, rearrange, and publish at your own pace. Video is a different commitment entirely. But the time feels right, so here we are.
Why YouTube
Text is great for technical depth. But there's a ceiling on how far written content can reach, especially for audiences who prefer watching over reading. A lot of the topics I cover — tool setups, hardware comparisons, local LLM workflows — are genuinely better shown than described.
Watching someone actually run LM Studio on an AMD Ryzen AI machine tells you more in two minutes than three paragraphs ever could.
What the Channel Will Cover
Same territory as the blog, but in video form:
- Local AI tools and LLM inference on consumer hardware
- Developer tools — editors, coding assistants, automation
- Embedded systems and hardware topics
- Honest first impressions and comparisons
The goal isn't to be a polished media production. It's to be useful, direct, and consistent.
The Setup Is Simple (For Now)
Starting lean. No elaborate studio. No expensive gear from day one. The focus right now is on getting the content right — the gear can improve over time as the channel grows.
What's Next
First video is in the works. Staying consistent here too — same principle as the daily blog experiment, just in a different format.
If you've been following the blog, the YouTube channel is the next step in the same direction.
Subscribe when it's live. Let's build this together.
