Using, Consuming, Doing [#2]

This is the second post in a series I'm calling Using, Consuming, Doing.  It's an idea inspired by Jason Fried's 'Heard Something, Read Something, Saw Something'.  I will write these up whenever I want to share new products / services I've been using, what I'm reading, watching, listening to, etc.  And whatever projects I'm working on. ✌️

Here's a list of products that I've been using lately:

  • Apple Wallet with MagSafe - It forces you to simplify what you carry (3 card max). It’s growing on me. 
  • AirPods Max - High quality, high price tag.
  • Facebook Groups - They actually make scrolling through FB much more enjoyable. 
  • Apple Arcade - 3 games to highlight: Leo’s Fortune, Skate City, Mini Motorways.
  • TOPO Dopp Kit - Simply the best toiletries bag. 🇺🇸
  • Apple Watch to unlock iPhone - This is a feature Apple included in iOS 14.5 / watchOS 7.4. When Face ID recognizes you’re wearing a mask, your iPhone will unlock using your watch. You get some haptic feedback on your wrist. It’s so convenient. Nice one Apple.

This is a collection of what I've recently been taking in:

  • Making Sense #256: A Contagion of Bad Ideas - Sam Harris and Eric Topol have a discussion on many topics related to vaccine hesitancy and misinformation. 
  • Ted Lasso Season 2 - The first season was fantastic! Season 2 Ep 1 didn’t have the same effect we were used to. We’ll give it a fair chance. 
  • Product Management courses on LinkedIn - There are a ton of resources on LI for these kinds of things, and I had no idea! 
  • Coronavirus news - Delta variant, vaccines, updated guidelines, etc. It’s full force, inescapable. 
  • Olympics 2021 - Caeleb Dressel is a beast. 🏊‍♂️
  • Superbad - Just about every night. It’s one of the greatest movies ever made. 

Doing 👨‍💻


Some of what I've been focused on:

  • Walking - Multiple times each day. I switch up the route to keep things fresh. 
  • Blender Donut - I created this 3d rendering of a donut:
  • PickleBall - So much fun. It’s the game of the summer, again. 
  • Drone footage of house - My buddy Colin used his drone to get some awesome videos of the house we’re building. 
  • Contributed to open source
  • Jabbed with first dose of COVID-19 vaccine 💉
