Saying "no" is a strategy.

In an hour long conversation with my wife about a major pivot to our nonprofit, we solved a business strategy problem by just saying "let's not do that."

The issue was prioritizing three out of nine "things" while giving adequate attention to the remaining six in our marketing.

By cutting those pieces out of our marketing material, we eliminated a big problem. We went from an organization with a complex structure to explain to one with a simple perceived structure.

The truth is that there's still a lot of complexity under the surface, but if we don't have to explain it, people don't have to try to understand it.

And that's important.

Give people what they need, not what you think they might need, and things get easier. The trick is figuring out what to get people to focus on and saying "no" to letting them see the rest.

If it's not necessary, don't do it.

Saying "no" is a strategy.

Now to see if it works...
