I joined Twitter in 2008, amassed 1000 followers or so, then deleted my account in 2020 to start fresh. I still can't figure out if using it personally is worth my time and attention.
I've got two businesses that I could be more open about. You know, that whole "build in public" idea. They're both B2B and kinda interesting. Both are pivoting at the moment. It could be good timing.
But the bigger question is "why Twitter?" It's appealing because it's quick and easy to post. But it also feels like posting into the void. I currently have my tweets set to delete after a week; I haven't missed much from the past.
Maybe I'll see where things go with Elon's crazy ideas. Maybe I'll start writing more on a blog and just sharing here. Maybe I'll keep my online footprint minimal and stay quiet. I dunno.
I do know that relationships in my local community are more important for my family. I have some friends who don't do much online and their lives are enviable.
Besides, it's only a matter of time before I post things that get people worked up. Half of the country disagrees with the other half, and I have attention from people from both halves. Part of me thinks it's just not worth it.
Again, the question to answer is "why?" I don't have the answer.
