Random Friday Message - 2025-10-31

This is a random message on random Fridays about random topics. Typing fast, so pardon my random typos.

Today’s Focus: Halloween edition during the final day of the cybersecurity awareness month.
  • Aisuru Botnet Shifts from DDoS to Residential Proxies: This is a good review of how computing power is "acquired" and then rented to cybercriminals.
  • The past of cyberproblems: Document Object Models. File formats and their mapping to in-memory object models have always been a source of exploits, which is becoming easier with the help of AI file fuzzers. Fixing is becoming harder and harder, since the issue may be in a very deep dependency.
  • The future of cyberproblems: configuration and extensions. Even if the base software is safe, they may have extensions, which may not be that safe. Or maybe the authors misplace tokens or certificates, allowing bad actors to publish face versions or take control of their extensions. A growing issue, with examples.

Happy Halloween!
