In the first few sentences of the Bible (Genesis 1:1-3), God follows a pattern when designing existence.
First he forms, then he fills.
He sets the stage before turning on the lights.

He made three spheres of activity: the heavens, the landmasses, and the waters; and then He filled them with appropriate forms of life. He works in our lives in the same pattern.
So when we begin designing something, we may be wise to follow God's pattern and first worry about creating a form worthy of being filled.
