When to Rest

And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. (Gen. 2:2)

God can't get tired. He doesn't need rest. Yet he rested anyway.

Why?

Warren Wiersbe asks another good question:

Can you think of reasons other than fatigue that make your day of rest worthwhile?

How about:
  • Pattern - as an example to others.
  • Pleasure - rest just feels great.
  • Perspective - rest can unlock a new point of view.
  • Variety - rest can break up the monotony.

These are things we need all the time, not just when we're fatigued.

So we might bake-in rest whether we "need" it or not to truly profit from all of its benefits.
