[Tech] Culture

Let’s talk about culture.

Culture is a term that is often associated with companies, but it doesn’t have to be. It should be associated with a tribe. A tribe is simply a group of people. It can be a family, a society, a company, or a whole nation.

Culture is how a majority of people behave and operate in a tribe.

As someone who has firsthand experience of the cultures of two different countries for a long period of time, I can say a country also has a culture, and it’s the culture that defines how people will behave and operate there, which eventually dictates the growth of that nation. I see myself acting differently in India vs. in Canada, just because of the influence of the people around me. Imagine the most rigid person you have seen in your life; put them in a different environment, and you’ll see they will behave differently, almost like they are forced by the culture of that group.

Culture starts with the founding members of the tribe and influences others as they join. It has a compounding effect. It doesn’t have to be taught; it has to be experienced. It will dictate how each member will behave and operate, which dictates the quality of output of each person, eventually dictating your success. It cannot be copied; it has to be built.

It’s built every moment by your every action and reaction.
