A Tip for Night Prayer if you Have Kids at Home

We try, as a family, to pray at night. This is as simple as praying the doxology or offering some petitions. It’s rarely extravagant and often feels mundane. As a father and husband, I often feel inadequate to lead this weekly and daily process. We miss nights. We’re tired. Someone has an evening commitment, etc.

We try to avoid missing two nights in a row.

One tip if you have kids at home is this: don’t wait too late. I find that if we are praying after 9pm, everyone is tired and has a sense of “let’s get this over with”. On the flip side, praying right after dinner feels too early.

Finding that sweet-spot of when to conclude the day in prayer is the key.

How do you conclude your day with prayer?
