It’s hard to be patient when it comes to the spiritual life. We get frustrated at confessing the same things over and over again. We fail to notice the genuine steps of growth.

I came across this quote from St. Irenaeus which speaks to the need to be patient with yourself and with what God is doing in you:

It is not you who shapes God; it is God who shapes you.
If then you are the handiwork of God, await the hand of the Artist.
