It’s a hot market right now when it comes to real estate in the Lehigh Valley. My neighbor’s house was on for 72 hours until it sold.
To get ready to sell, they did the standard yard sale and tidying up of the yard. We bought an old window of theirs for $5, turning it into an artifact of our town as it had been in their prior home in downtown Bethlehem. I’d say it’s at least 75 years old.
Since they sold and now await the closing, a curious ritual has unfolded on the curb in front of their home. Every day, 3-4 small items get placed on the curb. It might be a Tupperware container and a small lamp one day, a shovel and a few books the next. Apparently, there are enough people who drive by that pick up the items.
They appreciate their things and lovingly place them on the curb for others to use. This is a beautiful example of The Quiet Life, using possessions appropriately and with respect.
