Covid Got You Down? (You’re not alone)

The dam finally broke. After two years of being safe, prudent and healthy, one of our boys came down with covid. Then two relatives. Then our other son.

Omicron is unpredictable and swift. From what I can tell, there’s only so much you can do about it.

With someone in the house in isolation, evening prayers have turned into everyone standing at their bedroom door, masks on, offering up a brief prayer to conclude the day. Not exactly our best work but about what we can muster for right now.

It’s all been getting to me. Turn on the news and you can’t ignore the flood of covid-related news. Head over to ESPN and while you’d prefer to read about your favorite sports team, you’re now faced with you guessed it, covid’s impact on athletics.

I’ve felt lethargic and down and my morning prayer time has suffered. I’m a very steady person so when something finally gets to me, I recognize that “it’s a thing”.

Can you relate? Has all of the covid news been wearing you out? If so, you’re not alone. Really, we’re in this together and the Lord is right here with us.

What should you do in a time like this? Turn off the news for as long as you can. Talk to positive people who care about you. Do something for someone else. Get fresh air and exercise. Read your Bible and stick to your prayer routine. Be kind to yourself.

There’s no silver bullet. The good news: all pandemics end, this one included.
