Have you ever heard someone ask, “why does everything have to be so hard?” Usually they are speaking about a difficult life situation- the car breaks down, the washing machine stops, a child is uncooperative.
I can relate. Some days are just those sort of days and you want to throw your hands up and put your head in the sand.
Matthew 11:28-30 is one of my favorites but not because it is sweet and soothing (it is). Rather, it’s the radical invitation to come, to enter into relationship with the Lord, to be healed, to have burden lifted.
In other words, when you are having one of those days, remember that Jesus wants that stuff. He wants your messiness and your hurts. Not a single one is too big for Him.
Jesus said:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

Prayer doesn’t have to be complicated.
