Psalm 81 from today’s Mass concludes with this:
“But Israel I would feed with the finest wheat; satisfy them with honey from the rock.”
There are likely two ways to understand the word satisfy. One might see it as a check-the-box-I’m-full sort of experience. As in “I’ve had dinner” and it was ok.
Another might embrace the word more, appreciating the one who provided the meal. In this way, satisfy implies a gladness and appreciation. This is core to The Quiet Life- being satisfied with what the Lord has given you in this present moment.
I’m not jealous of someone else’s seemingly perfect life on Instagram nor am I running away from my true self. I am full and smiling because God gave and I received.
That is enough.
