The Case for a Day Off

Permission.

That’s ultimately what’s needed in order to enter into Sabbath, a key pillar of The Quiet Life. Simply avoiding work isn’t enough. It’s permission to enter more deeply into rest that matters.

When was the last time that you gave yourself permission to take a full day of rest?

My son just graduated from high school. Before work kicks in for the summer, he’s giving himself permission to enjoy a few days and truly rest.

The parties are done. The ceremonies are over. The exams are complete. Now, it’s time for him, at least for a few days, to sleep in, play video games and buy food from Wendy’s.

This article from No Sidebar reminded me of the power of permission when it comes to resting and slowing down. I hope you find it helpful.
