Dear Self,
Howdy from your favourite alien.
Been a while, eh? It’s your lucky month. Happy birthday once again. I could see you had a good time and the best food courtesy very kind and generous family members and colleagues at work who went the extra mile to make your day special. You are one lucky chap I say.
The week started with a whirlwind trip to Mumbai, the filmistan, to oversee the promo film shoot of your client solving for nutrition literacy in India. A very professional production team (what else did you expect from Mumbaikars?), a super intelligent protagonist - one of India’s finest food specialists and chefs, and his doting daughter who oversaw everything from the logistics, set design, comfort and food of the crew and her father’s health. This was an unplanned trip, decided just two days prior but very much worthwhile, as there were some loose ends in the script that got shaped thanks to a very high quality discussion between the client team, the protagonist and you.
After repeated attempts to schedule a call with one of the oldest steel sections manufacturer, introduced by a dear friend and batchmate from Kolkata, you finally managed to speak to him and his team. What a humble entrepreneur, well rooted, well spoken and eager to learn and grow. You could get along well and decided to visit his plant in Central India later this month. Go help him do well, add value to his business and organization and do your dear friend proud for referring you.
You had a rather tough assignment middle of the week. Two co-founders want to part ways and you have been assigned the responsibility to find an amicable exit plan. Emotions ran high on both sides but such is life. While there is a different level of excitement when people choose to come together, exits are never easy and they feel unfair to the parties involved.
The most exciting part of the week was the “Monthly Townhall” which took you six months to schedule. There were many reasons for this delay, but you finally had a very good townhall, an offline hybrid (whatever that means). Lots of exciting updates about the present and future of your firm. New members to celebrate, project wins, strategy shifts and new launches, it was fun to see you bring everybody on board. Although, you very well know how challenging it is to bring everyone on the same page.
A project with a tier 1 client your team has been nurturing for a few weeks finally got confirmed and kicked off really well. You already led two live labs with them, the whole team got together to create magic and left the client highly inspired. Well done, dear alien! Keep the momentum going.
One thing I am very impressed with is that you now take help without feeling shy or letting your “expert ego” take over. It’s very pleasing to see that. Be it your team members or leaders at BOD, you don’t hesitate to ask for help anymore. You have been a coach to hundreds of entrepreneurs. To see you signing up a coach for yourself was heartening. Took you a while to admit that a doctor can’t treat himself. Keep it going.
So, where do you stand in your lucky month? Well you look pretty and happy. I will catch up next week to see if you are getting smarter too. Hehe.
Cheers,
Your friend for life.
