Dear Self,
Howdy from your favourite alien!
It's been two weeks since I wrote to you, with a week of work and a week off work in between. You seem to think the year is going too fast and hasn't allowed you to catch your breath. The week off to the Indian UK gave you a break from the mundane and some precious time with family, driving and being driven through the divine hills, stopping by for food, rest, prayers, contemplation, and star gazing under clear skies amidst saintly lands, rivers, and valleys. You can thank your team for having your back behind you. You should also thank your clients for being considerate and allowing you to return to their needs a week later.
While staying at your Guru's Ashram, with His Blessings and with the help of your relentless team, you released the new edition of the e-book on 'Building Epic Brands'. His presence means the world to you and you know that if this guidebook is followed diligently, it can create tremendous value to the genuine reader. With your feet dipped in the waters of the divine Gautami Ganga at the foothills of the Kumaoni Kailash, you sent a video invite to the members of an elite group of entrepreneurs to join the workshop on positioning strategy which went quite well yesterday in New Delhi.
After a somewhat lethargic return to work, you got hold of all the important actions and deliverables, taking stock of client renewals, billing pipeline, collections, new proposals, spending time with your team, meeting new people, and most importantly target-setting for this quarter, and a crude plan for the new financial year starting April.
A lot of things have been moving swiftly in the right direction. You are planning a study to evaluate the brand strength score of a large tech firm. You moved one step further with a life sciences products company to plan the end-to-end development of its corporate brand. A large global consulting firm reached out to discuss potential collaborations as did a fast-growing digital marketing firm from Mumbai to explore synergies. You guided two women founders on how to shape the strategic direction of their startup in the natural products and services space. An early morning breakfast meeting at a Blue Tokai over fluffy pancakes, chewworthy sourdough mushroom sandwiches, and perfectly made hot chocolate did well to steer the discussion on the customer acquisition strategy for a well-established paper manufacturing client.
There was some meaningful progress in your development too. You had your monthly Trust Group meeting that helped you reflect once again on personal and professional goals with fellow entrepreneurs, the sticky challenges, and your changing perspectives towards them. The session with your coach helped instill some sense about how you should think about your firm's future. You managed to sneak in precious moments to do some writing though I think you did a lot better in December on this habit. Bring back the momentum quickly lest you forget what you enjoy doing most.
All in all, I can say and see you are moving forward even though I have a feeling you doubt the progress sometimes. Who knows where it will take you but your growing faith should tell you have never been left in the dark and as your coach said yesterday, there is plenty of light in the tunnel. Chug along, take every blow on the chin with grace and accept every flower gifted to you with humility.
Cheers,
Your friend for life.
