Letter to the Elixir Community

Dear Elixir Community

First off, I would like to thank all the organizers, speakers and attendees for a wonderful ElixirConf US this year. Up until this conference, I had not yet engaged with the Elixir community before. I have followed the language, hacked on personal projects with it, and listened to hours of podcasts, yet I had not yet interacted with the community directly.

After this conference, I feel like I am suddenly now a member. I wanted to thank everyone for being such genuine and welcoming humans. I am in awe of the competence and enthusiasm that permeated through every interaction I had with the many different people that I talked with at the conference. I had a feeling that you all had built special from my previous lurking, but I had no idea how good it actually was.

The keynotes, presentations and lightning talks were all informative, energetic and very well put together. The hallway track was also on point. I felt that I could approach anyone and have a genuine and interesting discussion about anything, Elixir or about life in general.

I am flying home now, incredibly excited for what problems Elixir can help solve in this next era of software engineering. I now feel I am part of another wonderful community and am looking forward to what comes next (which is something I have not said very much this year).

Thanks again,

schuyler

P.S. If you are interested in learning about one way that Elixir can be used in the AI era, I am officially telling the world that I am writing a book about AI Agents and Elixir with PragProg. I will be posting here as the project progresses and feel free to join the mailing list if you would like to be notified of announcements or other musings on the subject.
