The Idea of Minimalism

Minimalists are often thought of as wanting less, less & less, which isn't exactly the truth.

They are those who want to live with less possessions and more of memories.

When you get this kind of thought, you often find yourself with not many things. I’ve been asked what to do when there is nothing to do around?

This is probably when you start your journey of minimalism. Let’s take a fictional character as an example, Jake Costa. He is an University student living on his own and wants to minimalize his way of living. He DE cluttered everything and within days he was left with things that were only necessary for him. Soon, the pandemic hit, the world shut down and he was locked in. Having nothing to do at home, he thought of taking guitar lessons online and after a month of regular practice, Jake was able to play it and gained a new skill.

You see, when you embrace simple living you first get rid of everything that you don't need and make time and space for the things you want to do. I’m not telling you to drop everything or walk into a forest and start meditating. It’s always a choice if you want to.

The point here is to make sure you are doing something that makes you happy and not spending time cleaning your house filled with unnecessary things for hours.

Minimalism is not owning less. It’s about making room for what matters.

When you are starting out your journey as a minimalist you tend to confuse it with a number. It’s not the number of possessions you have. It’s something much more.
