Late at night, from the comfort of my bed, I had an idea. I wanted to reduce the repetitive task of writing the same code again and again. The solution was clear: create a boilerplate.
A boilerplate is a block of reusable code, often used as a starting point for many projects. My goal was to create a Node.js Express.js server with OpenAI API integration, serving static files, and exposing a JSON API for text completion.
Instead of typing out this boilerplate manually, I used ChatGPT, an AI developed by OpenAI. Through the chat interface on my phone, I instructed ChatGPT about my requirements, and the AI generated the code accordingly.
The creation process included defining the directory structure, creating server.js, setting up environment variables in a .env file, populating the 'public' folder with an HTML page, JavaScript, and CSS file, and finally setting up the package.json and README.md files.

The result was a reusable boilerplate. This block of code now stands ready for future projects, significantly reducing the need for repetitive coding tasks.
To recall the structure and capabilities of this boilerplate in the future, I created a "reminder" prompt for ChatGPT. Whenever I need to remember the details, I input the prompt, and ChatGPT provides a concise overview.
By the way, this blog post? ChatGPT wrote it too.
Check out the code on GitHub.
