Steve's Newsletter for Apr 29

This has been a pretty slow week around here, not that there's anything wrong with that! When I tried to think of some update to add, the only thing I could recall of significance is finally figuring out a breakfast I like after 38 years. I guess that is what social media was supposed to be for, before it metastasized. I miss the food pics to be honest. And with that, here are the links of the week!

Podcasts of the week: Jordan Peterson two ways:

Jordan is back after long illness, both with his own podcast and making the media rounds for his new book. That he has become such a controversial figure is a real indictment of our times, as he has so much value to offer and seems so clearly to be a good and decent man. The first podcast here is his own and with a Bishop as they discuss religion and the Bible. I don't know a ton about The Bible, so I found the specifics fascinating. Religion and the modern world is going to become more and more of an issue. This is a chance to hear two brilliant thinkers discuss.

If religion isn't your bag, the second is JP on Andrew Schulz's podcast. They go over a ton of topics. It is light and easy to listen to, but deep and insightful the whole way through.

The Hidden Costs of the Petrodollar

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/culture/the-hidden-costs-of-the-petrodollar

The most dense of the week. Did you know all this? How confident are you that you understand everything going on in the world? Much of the last 50 years has been opaque and obfuscated. The 20th Century was one of extreme centralization which brought lies and distortions. But just because something is hidden does not mean it is without consequences. It seems to me like the next decades will be a process of revealing all of these consequences to the reality of what has occurred in the world while we were mostly distracted. Buy Bitcoin.

Staying Out of It by Jason Fried

The founder of this website/email platform, Jason made a public statement that would have been obvious for most of the last century but is now extremely controversial. Politics has crept into every nook and cranny of our lives. Reversing this is the first step back to sanity. This is the way.
