I can't believe it's October! Sorry I missed a newsletter week, but hopefully it gave you time to catch up on some good links. I'll keep it short and sweet and simply remind you to buy bitcoin as it's all of our best hope. And now here are the links...
Human Nature and The Purpose of Propaganda
https://www.robkhenderson.com/past-newsletter/purpose-propaganda
A good attempt at explaining the famous Alexander Solzhenitsyn quote, "They lie to us, we know they're lying, they know we know they're lying, but they keep lying to us, and we keep pretending to believe them."
An Epidemic of Shrinking Human Jaws
https://news.stanford.edu/2020/07/21/toll-shrinking-jaws-human-health/
Why do so many people need braces and/or their wisdom teeth removed? It doesn't make evolutionary sense. Dr Mike Mew (worth youtube/googling) has been talking about this stuff for a long time, but this Stanford piece is pretty compelling
Why Judaism
https://www.thepullrequest.com/p/why-judaism
I suspect that a return to religion is a trend likely to continue for a while as it becomes increasingly obvious that secularism simply leads to its own religions that are not necessarily fulfilling.
Benjamin Constant, The Liberty of Ancients Compared with that of Moderns (Unknown, 1819)
https://oll.libertyfund.org/title/constant-the-liberty-of-ancients-compared-with-that-of-moderns-1819
This is a really interesting political essay from 200 years ago. I find it increasingly elucidating to understand the present not merely by looking at it or comparing to the past, but by reading what people in the past predicted could/would happen. It gives gravitas to the arguments at hand.
29 Lessons from Tyler Cowen
https://thoughtcatalog.com/ryan-holiday/2017/03/29-lessons-from-tyler-cowen/
And ending on a light note, these distilled lessons from Tyler Cowen are immediately useful and good for everyone to keep in mind.
