[1] As I understand it, this was one of China's first forays into C-pop and many of the elements were taken directly from successful K-pop boy bands of the day. Can you guess what "HIT" stands for? No, not Humorously Inefficient Turtles (though I can see why you might think that). And also not Helvetica Is Timeless (a controversial opinion but I do like the Neue variant). It stands for Handsome Idol Teenagers. I'm sure you see the problem with their staying power. As soon as they turned 20, they were presumably forced to abdicate their thrones atop the C-pop world and become Shrub Trimmers or whatever it is that aged-out stars become. A tragic tale as old as time (+/- 20 years).
