Books and libraries

Years ago I would bring one book with me on a trip, and along the way look out for other books to read.  I  loved the serendipity of this approach and would always find some gems along the way, including the amazing Barbarian Days by William Finnegan I found in Patagonia.

On this trip I have read very little. The days are long and physically demanding. Once we have had dinner, planned our next day, I read the NYT and CBC news  before I fall asleep.

Yesterday we spent some time in the Burgos Public Library. Burgos is an amazing city and we are enjoying a restful 3 nights here.  We wanted to use a computer instead of pecking away on a phone. The staff were extremely helpful and the library was impressive. I loved being in this bookish environment.

Some photos of the library.  It is located on a plaza with the city museum and church dedicated to the city’s patron saint and incorporates a historical door to the building originally on this site. Camosun friends, note the exact same green Marmoleum flooring that is in the Lansdowne Library. Also loved their genre types, including erotica!
Burgos Cathedral , a UNESCO world heritage site was vast  and beautiful.
