After a challenging start we have now seemed to find our rhythm. And, the route is now well sign-posted and the wind not so punishing.
Loire to Tours was about 75 km, but with lots of opportunity to stop. We took time to explore Amboise, a gem of a town. There are other Chateaux along this stretch of the river and wineries, with their caves carved into the rock.

Just 4 km from our destination there was a burst of rain. Fortunately we were able to take cover under a bridge.
Tours was a perfect spot for our much-needed rest day. It’s a lively city, with a UNESCO recognized historic centre, a stunningly beautiful Gothic cathedral, lots of bookshops and artist studios.
We will begin to head south now, making our way towards Bordeaux.
