Riding the meseta

Between Burgos and Leon sits the Meseta, a high plateau.  The Times the area feels like we’re riding across moors and other times the prairies. We have left Vineyards and Olive Groves, and now see huge fields of grain  crops and the few towns in this region have great elevators.

We are often riding on the same trails as walkers, or on roads where the walking trail runs parallel.

Tonight will be our third night crossing the meseta, and then we will be in Leon, under 400 km from destination of Santiago de Compostela.

We have a 45 km ride today, shorter than usual, but we expect to run into rain.

Some photos taken since Burgos

We have a pilgrims credential issued by the Canadian company of Pilgrims. I’ve enjoyed collecting stamps along the way from churches and hostels. When we reach Santiago, our credential will be reviewed and if it’s determined we’ve completed pilgrimage, we will be issued an official certificate.
