A few years ago we were a Tier 1 Platinum ELITE Partner for Verizon selling BlueJeans by Verizon.
I loved, LoVed LOVED using and SELLING BlueJeans! At the time the NYDLA | NADLA was the #1 promoter of Zoom in North America. After all, it makes perfect sense that the DISTANCE LEARNING ASSOCIATION would be promoting all things Zoom, right?
And then Verizon decided to sunset BlueJeans. Just turn it off. We had a few months to migrate all BlueJeans users to other platforms. See https://nydla.org/zoom/bluejeans_migration/
A few years ago, we were selling Workplace by Facebook (Meta). And then Meta decided to shut it down. And so began the Migration away/to something else before it turns into a pumpkin. Come Labor Day 2025 Workplace by Meta is no more.
We (still) use a product called Highrise by 37signals.com We have been using it for around 15 years. It works. It just flat out works.

Ah, but in 2018 the folks at 37signals decided to simply stop accepting new clients. Here is the note that they posted online:

So here I sit on 8/29/2025 a few days before Labor Day 2025, and I'm logged into my Highrise account. I'm still paying for and using Highrise. I am still getting value from Highrise. No sunsetting, no shutting down. The folks at 37signals are going to keep the lights on (until the end of the internet!) They simply are not going to grow it. Want to leave Highrise? That's fine. Want to migrate away from Highrise on your own? Cool. But as long as you keep paying - you have your Highrise account. They are not going to kick you out. They are not going to make you do WORK. That feels pretty good to me. Hey Meta, hey Verizon...... you listening?
37signals.com is not a billion dollar company. They are not the size of Verizon or Meta. Not even close. They are profitable. I also use their Basecamp.com product every single day. And you CAN sign up for that! So that tells me that it is not NECESSARY to sunset anything, ever. It is not a MANDATORY bug out. It's just a business decision. Not a good one.
I hope I remember this lesson when I sell (my own stuff) one day.
