When was the last time you attended an event (ANY SIZE) and you felt satisfied? That your time and money were invested well? Meetings & Events seem to be constant. There is ALWAYS something going on at Javits Center in NYC. I live 30 miles West of NYC and I could (I don't) go to Javits every day... and I would be able to network and meet and connect with....... THE WORLD.
The room at Yale School of Management probably held around 300 people, tops. No Zoom. LIVE, or nothing. But those who spent the $795 to attend LIVE (save $300 with code 'NYDLA') were on a mission. They were going to invest time and money to learn. To absorb the knowledge of the panel. At $795 it was a bargain. Save $300 and it was a no-brainer.
When I asked the folks at Yale 'why no Zoom?' their answer was clear and powerful. "We want the folks to be totally present. No distractions. This is a LIVE event, by design."
It made me think about THE MASTERS golf tournament, which bans cell phones. NO PHONES on the course. No distractions. Soak it all in..... live. Old School.
Now Yale did professionally record the two days, and they will host it on their website in the future. But for now, I have a few hundred business cards to scan and sort and.... follow up. Time to fire up LinkedIn. Ah yes, LIVE to virtual. I'll connect with all of them via LinkedIn, and invite them to Zoom.
The world is indeed PoweredByZoom.us even when the relationships start out........LIVE.
