"By day and by night" generally means throughout the day and night, or constantly. It can also describe situations where someone's activities or roles are different during the day and at night. So to keep it light, I'm www.MrZoom.us by day, and www.DrZoom.us by night.... Anyway...
A few years ago, the folks from Verizon called me and asked if I wanted to sell 'BlueJeans' for them. No, not the pants - - the platform. They saw what we were doing with Zoom, and thought we would be 'a good fit'. Again, platform. Not pants.
Long story short, we went from being a BlueJeans by Verizon Partner, to a Direct Verizon Partner, to a Tier 1 Partner, to a TIER 1 ELITE PARTNER. You can read all about it here and here.
The big thing that came from our time with BlueJeans was a conversation with the Chairman and CEO of Verizon. At one point he said to me, "Tom, your brand is better than our brand." I almost fell out of my chair... but he finished..... "For BlueJeans".
Ah, right. It makes total sense that the Distance Learning Association would be a good Brand Ambassador for all things BlueJeans.
Before BlueJeans by Verizon was shuttered, we were very deeply involved in selling BlueJeans for Telemedicine. It was a GREAT story to tell. And for something like Telemedicine, people would trust that it was powered by Verizon.
Using Verizon's massive marketing budget, we were 'Telling the World' about Telemedicine. I remember conversations like "DID YOU KNOW that there are people living in the Philippines who will never, ever see a Medical Doctor in their entire life?" Telemedicine could save tens of thousands of lives in Asia, in Africa. Saving lives via technology. I can get behind that!
During COVID when 'Zoom became a Verb' we all know what it was like to do EVERYTHING via Zoom. But from COVID, came the acceptance of Telemedicine. We have been talking about Telemedicine since the 1964 World's Fair in NYC. From the CEO | Chairman of Verizon:
"Tom, you are in the EDUCATION business. Distance Learning. Teaching, training, coaching, mentoring. Quality of Life comes from a Quality Education. The reason why you were so fast to become a Tier 1 ELITE Partner is the fact that you are in the Quality of Life business."
Verizon bought BlueJeans Network for $400M+ and then after a few years, just 'shut it down'. They did not sell it off, they just decided to sunset it. Like turning off a gas stove, slowly, until the flame was gone. But it was our time with BlueJeans by Verizon that allowed us to reach out to 174K+ K-20 schools, 16K+ municipalities, and 6K+ hospitals across North America. Not just the USA, but all of North America. And THIS is why we went live with NADLA.org - the North American Distance Learning Association.
2025: we are now GLOBAL. The GlobalDLA.org now services everyone, everywhere. We are all living, learning, working, playing, teaching, training, coaching, mentoring in the GLOBAL Cloud COMMUNITY. Yours.
