Interfaith Food Pantry Network (https://www.mcifp.org/) is now on the main menu bar of NYDLA.org
It replaced https://www.feedingamerica.org/ this week. I also support https://lfcfp.org/ which is in my home town of Boonton Township, NJ.
This week I saw a post from someone on Nextdoor.com who is living in their car in Parsippany, NJ (Morris County). And they needed money for food. At first I was going to send them money directly (as per their request) but instead I chatted with them via the Nextdoor.com app. And then I met with me on Zoom. At least they still had a working phone. The folks at Loaves and Fishes and the folks at IFP are going to help. Also, they will assist with support well beyond food.
But first, ya gotta eat.
If people are struggling in Morris County - one of the wealthiest counties in the country (not just the state) then folks are struggling everywhere.
Here is my point: it cost me (personally) nothing to help. I donated my time. I was able to point someone in the right direction. This I believe is better than simply sending someone some money via PayPal or Venmo. I was able to transfer my knowledge to someone who did not know that help was available. Ending hunger and supporting self-sufficiency is within our power. We just need to do it. And we need to do it the right way.
I made the decision to make Interfaith Food Pantry Network our official charity. So now everything we do, everything we do (EVERYTHING WE DO) helps everyone, everywhere. Simple.
