Every single day for as long as I can remember, I get the daily blog from Seth. You know, Seth Godin. Not too many years ago if you just typed 'Seth' into Google you would find SethGodin.com. That always made me smile, that simply typing 'Seth' into search was enough to find.... Seth.
Seth Godin was 'my muse' to start blogging. Every Sunday (not every DAY) since 2010. Well, not 'every' Sunday either. Most every Sunday. Unless I did not feel like it.
Ah, but Seth has not missed a day. Like ever. Not every post is a missive, not every post is long. But every post in his daily blog is indeed.... daily. That is part of the magic, that is part of the brand. Seth's brand. 9,000 daily blog posts and counting.
And here is what Seth's daily blog today 11/4/2025 says to me. About when it is important, don't hire a rookie.
There was a time when Zoom was the rookie.
There was a time when 'Zoom' was a kid's show on PBS from Boston. When 'Zoom' was what you did with a camera, to take a close-up.
History: A beta version of Zoom that could host conferences with only up to 15 video participants was launched on August 21, 2012. On January 25, 2013, version 1.0 of the program was released with an increase in the number of participants per conference to 25. By the end of its first month, Zoom had 400,000 users.
Zoom became truly popular in 2020 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, which forced remote work and online learning. While the company had steady growth from its launch in 2013, the pandemic caused its user base to expand exponentially, with daily meeting participants increasing 30-fold between December 2019 and April 2020.
Pre-pandemic growth: Zoom saw consistent growth from its 2013 launch.
By May 2013, it had 1 million users.
By the end of 2015, it had 100 million users.
The company went public with an IPO in April 2019.
The 2020 pandemic surge: The onset of COVID-19 led to a dramatic and rapid increase in popularity.
The number of daily meeting participants surged to over 300 million by April 2020.

In March 2020 alone the Zoom app was downloaded over 2.13 million times.
It became a 'go-to' platform for a vast array of activities, including business meetings, virtual classrooms, fitness classes, and social gatherings.
Thomas A. Capone was a beta user of Zoom. I was an early adopter as they say. Because I ran (still do) the Distance Learning Association (www.NYDLA.org) it made perfect sense for me to be a Zoom beta tester. So, I have been using Zoom (every day) since long before Zoom became a verb.
Now today in 2025 there are many (MANY) Zoom competitors. Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, GoTo Meeting, Webex Meetings, Zoho Meeting, Jitsi Meet to name just a few. And I sell all of them. I have used them all. I had to use them all, so that I would know what I'm talking about. I have an opinion about all of them. I have to - it's my job. I don't know everything but I do know a lot about a little. I have experience in some things. And, so do YOU. You have a body of work - you have a valuable opinion on things that would be of interest to others.
Make sure that you know what your super powers are - that is where the gold is hidden.
Got questions about 'Marketing' you go to www.SethGodin.com
Got questions about 'Cloud' and 'Remote' you go to www.TomCapone.com. Since 1983.
Or you can go to www.DrZoom.us or www.MrZoom.us - that will work out well for you as well.
Because experience is easy to measure. And being a rookie is temporary.
Hey, I am hearing that this 'AI' thing is going to be big. I'm going to check it out. Want to come along with me?
