#75Hard day 47

There's fair weather on the horizon. Spring is beginning in the air. New life is coming, the Lenten season is near. There is hope, and as Jocko likes to say, discipline equals freedom. I'm excited for these last 28 days to really start to dig in to what persistent disciplines will look like in my life going forward from this journey. Here's the recap for today.

Bible reading
I read Micah 4 today. Ive been feeling a bit in despair with my bible reading time. The minor prophets can be real dreadful at times. It was kind of cool today though to visit my friend's church to see his children baptized. The pastor was coincidentally preaching on Micah 2, and tied it together into a really cool redemptive story related also to Ash Wednesday and the passion story of Jesus.  So while it is hard to read sometimes, it really just shows how passionate and jealous our God is for our affection.

Workouts
I took a rest day today and got a nice walk in the sun followed by some yoga. The legs were definitely sore after yesterdays interval workout.

Reading
I began rule 4 of 12 rules for life. The rule is to compare yourself not to others, but to who you were yesterday. Peterson writes about how there are always going to be people who or better at things than you. Or you will always find that you suck at doing some things. We can't be great at everything. We might not even be great at anything. But there will always be enough need on this earth that we can find a domain, several even, where we can be useful. And in those domains we can always practice and get better than where we were yesterday.

I definitely feel this. I've always considered myself more of a jack of all trades master of none type. It has made it hard to feel like I've found my niche in the world. But by picking a few things that I enjoy and that bring utility to my family, I'm able to focus and continue to grow.

Diet
Breakfast: oatmeal
Lunch: food court Chinese. I regretted this.  It was not worth it. Thankfully I had the discipline to see it and not mindlessly eat it all.
Dinner: grilled chicken, green beans and onions. This was a nice follow-up to an awful lunch.
Snacks: some mixed nuts.

Progress
Had a great weight this morning hitting a new low of 181.9. I feel like I'm knocking on the 170s door. It's exciting, considering this diet has been really sustainable.
