Bible Reading Nahum 3. Ninevah is getting pounded.
Workouts Did a 30 minute push-up pull-up routine that included sets of 6 pull-ups and 20 push ups times 8 in a variety of grips. I also got in an hour walk. It was a bit cold and wet today, but not too bad.
Reading I finished rule 6 and started rule 7 of Peterson's 12 Rules for Life. Rule 6 is to put your house in perfect order before criticizing the world. Essentially it boils down to looking inward to decipher the source of your problems before blaming it on some outside force. Too often we try to blame the government, or our social circles, or our jobs, kids, and families for our hardships in life. Worst of all we blame God for dealing us a bad hand. The problem with all of this is it leaves us powerless to make any change to better our lives. If we look inward, we can make small changes. Peterson suggests that the best and most basic change we can make is to just identify one small bad thing we do and to start stopping that bad thing.
Rule 7 is to Pursue what is Meaningful, not what is expedient. I look forward to reading more on that tomorrow.
