Bible reading Zechariah 5-6 There's a lot symbolism here, with the four chariots and the four winds. The talk of the temple and Joshua the high priest. I'm not really sure what to make of it all to be honest.
Workouts
Got in a monster bike ride this morning with a friend from Michigan that I know from the high school bike trip days. He was down here with a crew of his racing friends. I met up with them in Pasquo on the Natchez Trace and we road all the way down to Fly before I had to head back home. It ended up being 87 miles and just a touch over 5 hours! It felt pretty good, but also pretty hard. Hopefully should be some good training for the 100 mile ride I have planned in April.
Reading I'm continuing Rule 11, about letting kids have freedom to experience risk. I didn't read anything that stuck out more than what I read yesterday, but I still think it's a great rule. As a parent of 4 young kids though, it's also a rule that's hard to follow. It's natural to want to protect your children. But I know I need to let them practice experiencing the world without the protection of their parents. The world is a much harder place to be when you don't have practice navigating it.
Diet Breakfast: Oatmeal with honey Lunch: On the bike - a banana, 2 honey stinger waffles, an SIS sports gel, a payday candybar, 2 bottles of Gatorade and a bottle of BodyArmor electrolyte drink. Dinner: A generous portion of sourdough bread to replace some depleted glycogen stores (I burned 3500 calories during my exercise today), and a cheese burger. Snacks: cheese stick and an apple.
Husband and Father are my two favorite titles. I have 4 wonderful children and a beautiful wife. Everything else I do in life is a means to building my family. I'm also a software engineer with a focus on operating web apps on AWS. All the rest of my free time is mainly spent riding bicycles on roads and trails.
