Only 8 more days. It's been a long but good journey. Here's the recap for today.
Bible Reading
Zechariah 7 - God speaks to Zechariah about the ceremonial fasting that the Jewish people had become accustomed to practicing as a form of repentance for the sins that led up to the temple being destroyed. God challenged Zechariah, asking if they were fasting for themselves or were they fasting for God. Too often when I look back on some of the rituals I've practiced, it can be hard to discern how much of it I was doing for my own personal gratification, vs doing it for the glory of God. It was humbling to read about this this morning.
Workouts
I did a little over an hour of yard work today raking and blowing leaves and old mulch along with pulling a lot of weeds. The yard definitely needs some extra love this year after the dry summer we had last year. It's getting there, slowly but surely. This evening, before bed, I did 25 minutes of yoga. It felt really good to stretch out all the aches of yesterday's bike ride.
Reading
I'm almost through rule 11. Peterson really likes to wander down a lot of tangents while he's explaining a very simple idea. But there's so much in the tangents, that I know he will eventually tie together, that I have to pay close attention. This has been one of my favorite rules of the whole book. I look forward to seeing how he wraps it up.
