I'm back in love with a Mac again.
I recently upgraded to a M1 MacBook Pro, and I must say, it is simply amazing. I was using a 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro with i9, 16GB RAM and 1TB disk and when Apple released the M1 Macs, and watching / reading about the great reviews, I knew I wanted to upgrade someday, but not immediately. I wanted to wait for the purportedly 14" MacBook Pro with M1X / M2 Apple Silicon. But had to make the jump as I had to give up my MacBook Pro to a colleague. Although I was a bit apprehensive, I just fell in love with it once I started using it.
It's a real "lap" top
It never gets hot, never for the day to day tasks you put it through. I'm yet to see it uncomfortably hot to put it on your lap. This is great for me coming from a hot iron like the i9 MacBook Pro.
Amazing battery life
You will never get out of juice on this one. I get like 2 days of battery life for normal workloads. Its amazing!
Rosetta just does it job really well
It just doesn't feel that you are working on an ARM laptop. Everything just works. There are things that I miss - like Docker, but the latest Docker for Mac supports the M1 Mac.
It's fast as my old Mac
Maybe faster, and more useful, because it can now run iPhone and iPad apps. This also opens up a whole lot of iOS games too which can be easily downloaded from the App Store.
If you want to know the real reason for all the crazy performance that M1 brings, I suggest you read this article and perhaps this too.
