TL;DR: You can follow all of the stuff I do using this page or you can read about more casual writing here on this blog (or subscribe to it using the email field at the bottom of the page). If you're interested in more, then read on.
Let's Try This, Again
It's been just shy of four months since I've published anything to this blog 😮. When Hey World was first announced I was interested so, like most, I opted to give it a go with a first post.
But then, like usual, I got pre-occupied with others things such as life, work, and the ever-present but what would I write about on another blog mentality (when I'm doing well enough to get back to normal on my primary property).
And as much as I'm all for data ownership - something I'll talk a little bit more later, maybe - I thought that I could actually make sure of the various services that I use each with a single purpose and piped into a single location.
Horcruxes, Hallows, or Something Else?
Right now, here's where all of my
horcruxes information are scattered throughout the web:
- ✍🏻 My primary blog is backed up via my web host and I've access to all articles via RSS.
- 📸 I'm not really big on photography but I share things on Instagram like the rest of you nerds.
- 🎸 Lately, I've been doing more and more with guitar on Instagram reels.
- 🐦 I tweet a good bit but mostly about programming-related topics (with the occasional meme :)
- 📓 I journal almost daily using Day One and I have done so consistently for quite some time.
So there's a lot of places that I'm sharing things but few places that really bring it all together. The thing is, I can't imagine a scenario in which someone who watches short clips of someone playing guitar is simultaneously interested in a dumb tweet as well as an article about programming.
So what's a dude to do?
Secret Separate, Keep It Safe
But what if I were to separate all of things? I mean, I'm kind of already doing this with:
- the different properties you read above,
- provide a way to access them individually, which I already have,
- and have a way to send all of them into Day One, which is something I've been doing via IFTTT
That way, if you're into any of the above you can follow me on one of the aforementioned links.
But I've yet to answer the question:
What about this site?
So one one of the things that I like to have available to reference is a list of the utilities, apps, and tools that I use. I don't mean this from an engineering perspective, but I mean if I were to recommend, say, a podcast player to someone that isn't the stock Apple Podcasts app (or whatever Google ships with Android). The short answer is Pocket Casts, but I digress for now. 🙂
Anyway, this is gonna be a place where I can share longer form posts for all of the things that don't fit elsewhere, that can be accessed elsewhere, and that's also sent to Day One for me ensure I have access to read in the future should this service cease to exist.
You get my point, though. And you can bookmark this page, subscribe to it via RSS, or you can simply subscribe to it via your email address using the field below. Then you'll get all of this fun stuff in your inbox and you don't have to worry about checking in for something.
Basically, I'll call you rather than you call me. 📲
Oh! First, I'm planning to start talking about the apps I use on a day-to-day basis and why. So there you go.
Subscribe or sign up and I'll write when I can.
