I really need to start writing this daily.
May 4th: Thunderbolts* (2025)
So it's a Marvel film... I haven't seen a Marvel film in theaters since... Endgame? I think? I barely remember Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. That film made me lose hope. I've been totally disjointed from the MCU for a few years now. But I heard Thunderbolts was different. So I gave it a chance and I am glad I did. It felt more like watching 2011's The Avengers than it did watching Marvel slop #43 in 2025. Thunderbolts* had just enough of it's own voice to cut through the "well that just happened" quips I've grown to dread (and it was light on those too). I enjoyed Bob's arc very much and am cautiously looking forward to how Julia Louis-Dreyfus' character plays out in the long run. 7/10
May 5th: Totally Killer (2023)
Okay yes I only watched this movie because a pirated clip was in my doom-scrolling YouTube shorts feed. But dang I was impressed. This is a funny enjoyable slasher film. I define this movie as "entertaining" which is all it was trying to be. Sometimes movies try to be more than they deserve to be but Totally Killer knew exactly which cards to play. Semi-inventive premise with witty writing and entertaining characters (if you can tolerate annoying teenagers). 7/10
May 6th: Stalker (1979)
This movie is long. This movie is slow. This movie makes ZERO sense. But WOW does it have ambiance, world building, and tension bursting from the scenes. I felt like I was watching a time capsule. It is a very hard watch but the characters keep you thinking and the shots keep you entranced with the world they are exploring. I wish I could picnic in the zone and just absorb it all (besides the insanity of course). 7/10
May 7th: Sister Midnight (2024)
This was a mystery movie at my local theater. I had no idea what movie I was about to watch when sitting down and no idea what type of movie it was while I was watching. This made the 2nd half EVEN BETTER because I was a clueless passenger. Radhika Apte nails her leading roll. I know nothing about her character but within the first 15 minutes I understand her. Then the movie keeps rolling and I begin to understand less and less as it descends into the night. 8/10
