It is Saturday, and I am chilling on the couch. I have planned an hour long session of doing some work on my Music Quiz. Today's thoughts have nothing to do with that however. Today I just want to point out that I am quite unsure of the state of people or myself.
Why? Well, I was checking Facebook messenger, and as I am about to quit it, I decide to open up the stories tab, or whatever it is. The place where people post images or videos for everyone to see. The things people decide to show really baffles me.
I would either categorize it as a cry for attention or some random thing that they hope people will respond to. Actually, the more I think about it, the less sense, logically, it makes. I find some of the videos people post, cringeworthingly desperate. Do people not have others to share these things with in their lives? Do people really think that anyone gives a crap about the baby pictures 7 years ago, because 'today marks the 7th birthday of their son'.
I must sound like an old angry person when reading the above. The honest truth is that I really am not. I just don't understand how people think that this appropriate or interesting. Have they never stopped to think that what they are posting doesn't interest anyone else except themselves?
I think I'm going off on a tangent, and this is a thought that comes back to me often, whenever I come across this Social Media attention seeking bile. I think the reason that I write about it, is because I think it is a plague upon our time. A ghastly one-way communication with one's ego. Naval gazing short-sightedness. Yuck.
