A few days ago, I was playing around with some Ruby on Rails, when I decided I wanted some better linting. A few minutes later I was looking at a red screen with errors all over the place. For a few minutes I was in slight panic mode. Setting up your editor when using Vim takes time, and I still had yet to add some version control.
It took a few minutes to realize that there was no going back. I had gotten lazy and forgotten how I had set it all up. It was time to restart, from scratch! I had to dedicate an entire workday for this (shhh, don't tell my boss!) It was totally worth it though. I feel like I am in control now.
So maybe you should do the same. Smash your config into pieces. You probably don't know how it all fits together anyways. If you do, then no harm done anyways, right?
Do something destructive today, so you can rebuild it better! Oh, and.. don't forget to `git init`.
