Dear Nathan--
Look at that smile! It's hard to put into words how happy these milestones make me. To see you changing, growing, maturing... right before my eyes. For parents, we get a few of these magic moments where, in a matter of minutes, you change right in front of us. You become the person that we've only conjured in our minds. Today was one of those moments for me.
We snapped a pic before walking into the orthodontist... you look like the happy 14-year-old you are... the kid that I have in my memory. A little bit nervous about what you were heading into, but excited to get it over with.
We snapped another pic after walking out... you practically beamed with happiness... teeth white... no more colorful bands covering them up... and straight... the memory of where this journey started fading somewhere in the past. In that moment, you looked more composed... more mature... more of everything I already knew you to be. I love seeing that. I love seeing the young man you are becoming.
